This superbly rustic vintage workbench was pulled out of an old garage and has been sympathetically re-purposed and given a new lease of life as a kitchen island/kitchen work surface.
It measures a whopping 257cm long x 69cm deep x 82cm high and would look equally comfortable in a rustic country kitchen or a modern environment.
The base has been scrubbed and painted in a subtle pale blue-grey with just the right amount of distress. The two middle drawers were not salvageable but this provides a handy storage space for baskets or simply for saucepans or plates. The drawers at either end are fully intact with their original chunky, industrial metal handles and are the full depth of the bench.
The top has been replaced with three wonderful 3.5cm thick planks, which are beautifully smoothed, stained and waxed. There is also a 7cm high retaining piece running the full length of the bench on one side, making it hygienically and user-friendly as a kitchen piece.
Overall, this piece is not for the faint-hearted, so if you like squeaky clean and pristine, this is not for you. This bench has scratches, dings, bangs and warts and all, consistent with it's age and hard-working life, which I estimate to be around 60-80 years old.
Please note that this is really heavy and is a minimum of a 2 man lift. We can arrange for courier delivery to anywhere within the UK mainland from £85 depending on location, or you are welcome to arrange your own collection from our shop premises.
